The GeoVirtual Laboratory was created in 2002 within the Department of Geology and Geography
at West Virginia University by Dr. Trevor Harris and David (Vic) V. Baker. GVL is a diverse team of engineers, computer scientists, and
GIS experts working together to develop new ideas combining VR, GIS, location
based services, and augmented reality. The group has been awarded the prestigious WV Research
Challenge Grant and a $500,000 NSF award to help fund them in these efforts. Additionally, the research team has
been presented with multiple SBIRs and received high rankings in the competition for each of these awards.
As a result of this support, and the hard working individuals at GVL, the team
has been able to apply for patents on numerous pieces of technology that have been conceptualized and
built right here at GVL (see Patents).
Partnering with GVL means that you have access to a world class visualization and research team
that will apply all their talents to your area of interest. If you are interested in the services that
GVL provides please contact Jesse Rouse for more information.
